Privacy policy

The short version: your writing stays on your device. We never receive it, so we cannot lose it, sell it or hand it over.

Your writing

Every tool on this site — word counting, character counting, readability, keyword density, the writing score, text cleaning, case conversion, comparison and every calculator — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never transmitted to our servers, because no server is involved in the analysis.

This is not a promise about how we handle your data. It is a description of how the site is built: there is no upload endpoint for your text to be sent to.

Drafts and settings

So you do not lose work, the editor saves your current document to your own browser using IndexedDB, and your preferences (theme, reading and speaking speed, word goal) using localStorage. Both are stored on your device only. They are readable by this site in this browser and by nobody else, and they are never sent anywhere.

You can remove them at any time by:

What we do collect

Like any website, our hosting provider processes standard technical information needed to serve a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the site, keep it available and detect abuse.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising, which is what keeps every tool free and unmetered. When advertising is enabled, ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and in some regions to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other sites.

Advertising cookies are set by Google, not by us, and we do not have access to them. You can control personalised advertising inGoogle's My Ad Center, or readhow Google uses data from sites that use its services. Advertisers never receive the text you type — it never leaves your browser in the first place.

Advertising consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears the first time you arrive, asking whether you agree to data being used for personalised advertising. It offers three choices: consent, do not consent, or manage your choices in detail.

That dialog is operated by Google's certified consent management platform, not by us. Your answer is recorded by that platform on your own device so you are not asked again on every page, and it is passed to Google and its advertising partners. Declining is a genuine option: you can refuse from the first screen without working through submenus, and the site and every tool on it work exactly the same either way.

To change your answer later, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the message will appear again on your next visit. You can also manage advertising personalisation across all sites inGoogle's My Ad Center.

This consent relates only to advertising. It has no bearing on how your writing is handled — that is processed on your device whatever you choose, because there is no mechanism in the site for sending it anywhere.

Analytics

We measure aggregate usage — which pages are visited and which tools are used — to decide what to build next. Analytics records page and event names only. The content of your writing is never included in an analytics event, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. Your preferences are kept in localStorage rather than a cookie, which means they are not transmitted with requests. Third-party advertising may set cookies as described above, and the consent message stores your answer on your device so it does not have to ask again.

Children

The site is a general-audience writing utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to processing. Because we do not hold accounts or store your writing, in practice the data we hold about you is limited to server logs and aggregate analytics. Contact us and we will help with any request.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the new version will be posted here. Changes that affect how your writing is handled will be announced on the site itself.
