The service

EasyWordCounter (https://easywordcounter.com) provides free browser-based tools for counting and analysing text. No account is required and no payment is taken. We may add, change or remove tools at any time.

Your content

Whatever you paste or type remains yours. Because the tools run in your browser, we never receive it, and we claim no licence or rights over it of any kind. You are responsible for having the right to use the text you paste.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the site for anything unlawful;
• attempt to interfere with, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure;
• scrape or republish the site's content or code at scale without permission; or
• misrepresent the site's output as a professional assessment of anyone's writing ability.

Accuracy and estimates

Counts are computed with documented, consistent rules, but different software counts differently. Where a word count must match a specific institution's software, check it in that software.

Reading time, speaking time, page counts, reading levels and the EasyWord score areestimates derived from averages and formulas. They are useful for planning and editing. They are not measurements of your writing's quality, and no academic, professional or commercial decision should rest on them alone.

Your drafts are your responsibility

Drafts are saved in your browser's local storage as a convenience. That storage can be cleared by you, by your browser, by private browsing, or by the browser reclaiming space. We cannot recover a lost draft, because we never had a copy. Export anything important.

Availability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site — including lost work, lost drafts, missed deadlines or decisions made on the basis of an estimate. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Third-party links and advertising

Pages may link to other sites and may display third-party advertising. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it. See the privacy policy for how advertising works here.

Intellectual property

The site's name, logo, design, text and code belong to us or our licensors. You may use the tools freely for any purpose, including commercial writing. You may not copy the site itself.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the date at the top shows when. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
